December

The largest New Years celebration in the area can only be held in Deadwood. Main Street is blocked off and the open container ordinance is lifted as thousands of people fill the streets and partake in a little tomfoolery. Make sure you see the ball drop on another year in front of the Historic Franklin Hotel. Most casinos will have live entertainment, food and cash giveaways and plenty of drink specials to go around. St. Patrick’s Day

March

It is the one time a year when the Irish in all of us comes out to celebrate – St. Patrick’s Day. Every March 17, we all put on our green and celebrate like there is no tomorrow. And each year, Deadwood is there to accommodate. Annual festivities include a parade up Main Street, several pub crawls, poker runs, live Irish music and much more. Days of '76

July

For five straight years, the Days of ’76 Rodeo has been voted as the best medium-size rodeo in the nation by the Professional Rodeo and Cowboys Association, and that ain’t no bull. Every year since 1923, some of the world’s best cowboys and cowgirls have competed in one of the best rodeos in the business. Come see what all the fuss is about at the end of every July. Kool Deadwood Nites

August

Kool Deadwood Nites, which has become one of the premier car shows in the region, welcomes hundreds of classic cars and thousands of people each year. At the end of August each year, classic cards from yesteryear will line the streets of Deadwood and remind us all of simpler times. Free concerts will be held on Main Street on Friday and Saturday night, as well as a classic car auction at Deadwood Gulch Convention Center. Mardi Gras

February

Get in the groove at the annual celebration of costumes, beads, masks and music at Deadwood’s annual Mardi Gras celebration. The New Orleans of the north does its annual Carnival festivities every February. From two parades up Deadwood’s Historic Main Street to a Cajon cook-off to costume contests, the annual Mardi Gras celebration is one not to be missed. Wild Bill Days

June

It is the annual celebration of one of Deadwood’s most iconic figures – Wild Bill Hickok. Each year, Deadwood kicks off the summer right with free concerts on Main Street, the Cowboy Fast Draw Championships, Wild West reenactors, a firearms auction and BBQ cook-off. Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

August

Every August, the pine-clad forests and winding back-country roads of the Black Hills rumble to the tune of nearly a half-million motorcycles. The Deadwood Jam

Septmeber

One of the best music festivals in the area, the annual Deadwood Jam will soon celebrate its 20th anniversary. This music fest held each September includes an eclectic mix of performers with previous acts including Big &Rich, Johnny Lang, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, The Wallflowers, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, The Young Dubliners, Edgar and Johnny Winter, and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
